This is the session on the methodology of application innovation and unlocking legacy applications.
App infrastructures emerge fast, are more exposed externally, and more require adaptation to third party expectations. New business models are associated with growing revenue from such app services by publishing APIs.
There is high proliferation of enterprise & productivity apps – they are highly standardized and not really customizable to business processes. Closing such app gap and creating connectivity layer with its maintenance - falls into the customer.
Reusing of existing services (built over the years) would be ideal option for exposure, but their original purpose is often very internally-driven and technically-driven rather than attached to any business process. Therefore, inevitability is to regularly rationalize higher-order composite services again, but now in proper architectural style. The workshop offers methodology for such dominating pattern of new composite services external exposure while including microservices and functions driven modern app dev:
(1) Design of the service and ‘API first’
(2) Implementation of composite service using modern developer productivity oriented lightweight integration platform for rapid ‘merge and invoke’ development
(3) Exposure of such services to thirty party developers by secure, still welcoming, friendly and easy access with API Gateway
(4) Closing the gaps with the extension of existing app networks with (a) low-code rapid app builder or (b) process automation (business process management)
