Following-on from Mike and Roy’s sessions, Martin and Julian will share their experience of 19c upgrades. The 60 minute session aims at providing the audience with a wider view outside of the scope of the database. The session covers in particular why Oracle 19c should be the target release and why you should start the work now if you haven't already.

The stories will detail strategies to complete a successful end-to-end upgrade, highlighting considerations such as

• Noteworthy new features and those that are on their way out in Oracle 19c
• Embracing the Container Database Architecture as a strategic direction moving forward
• Aspects of the application ecosystem such as connectivity, drivers, and Oracle client software
• Ensuring monitoring is compatible with the new release without breaking visibility of legacy environments
• Taking the opportunity of the upgrade to introduce automation and more rigorous standards in deployments
• Thinking about new technology such as cloud, and thoughts about containers
• An outlook at what is coming with Oracle 20c
